aDSTKeeper

The look and feel of aDSTKeeper is very similar to the "Date & Time" panel of Palm system (OS 4.0) built-in Preference application. Firstly, you can set the system date or time via aDSTKeeper. If you are traveling to different cities, aDSTKeeper also enables you to change the system time based on your destination.

The major differences between aDSTKeeper and "Date & Time" panel is aDSTKeeper will automatically change the system time according to your home city DST settings. That means aDSTKeeper will advance your system time when DST begins and roll back the system time when DST ends.

How to invoke aDSTKeeper

aDSTKeeper is not a standard Palm application, so you are unable to find it from the application launcher. To invoke it, you have to run it through Palm system built-in Preferences application as shown below.

Set date and time

You can change the Palm system clock by aDSTKeeper provided Set Date and Set Time functions.

Set time with the graffiti input or page up/down keys

The Palm system default Select Time form only enables you to change time via tapping the spin box. Sometimes it is a little cumbersome to set a time by this way. aDSTKeeper enables you to change time with not only tapping the spin box but also the graffiti input or page up/down keys.

Change the time zone

If you are traveling a lot, and would need to keep changing your time for different airports and cities. And it's necessary to change your system time to make sure your alarms and appointments for that particular location to work. It would be easier if a tool can change the system time based on your destination. aDSTKeeper's "Change Time Zone" function is designed for this purpose.

If you also installed aClock or aAlarm, their home city setting will also be updated when you change the time zone city in aDSTKeeper. The "Date & Time" panel has been added into Palm's Pref since Palm OS 4.0, the time zone information will also be maintained in this panel. To change the time zone city, the time zone information of this panel will also be updated, too. Please note that, this function only be enabled if you have installed wcCntyDB.pdb.

aDSTKeeper now also provides a function to classify world cities by country if you have installed wcCntyDB.pdb to your Palm. You will learn how to choose a city more easily via we provided new functions from the following diagram.

Automatically adjusts system time for DST

aDSTKeeper automatically adjusts your Palm system time according to the DST information of the current home city. To enable this function, you have to set the current home city by the "Set Time Zone" function and you should also turn on the option of "auto adjust time for DST". If your home city has the DST information, aDSTKeeper will advance the Palm system time one hour when DST begins and roll back the system time when DST ends. If the option of "auto adjust time for DST" is off, aDSTKeeper will not adjust the Palm system time when DST begins or ends. If the "auto update Date & Time Panel" option is on, aDSTKeeper will automatically update the "Daylight Saving" option of Pref's "Date & Time" panel when DST begins or ends.
